The Nashville Fire Department’s Fireman of the Year for 2024, Zachary Miller, received the coveted recognition at the department’s recent annual banquet.
Fireman of the Year is the highest honor given by the department.
Nashville firemen select the award recipient by a secret ballot.
The firefighters are asked to write down on a piece of paper who is most deserving. There is only one round of voting.
Fire Marshal Justin Thornton said “Zachary has done very well since he joined our department in May of 2019. He takes his job as a firefighter very seriously and continues to train to make himself better. Zachary is an asset to this department and the citizens of Nashville.”
Other awards included:
Jimmy Mixon — 25 year service pin.
Hayden Worthington — 25 years of service. Worthington is also retiring.
Royce Miller — Officer’s Choice Award, this award is decided by the Chief, Assistant Chief and the department’s three captains.
Kelly Hostetler — Attendance Award for attending the most calls and drills.
