Dwight Sharp, age 75, a resident of Umpire, Ark., passed away Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, in Hot Springs, Ark.
He was born on Aug. 30, 1949, in Nashville, Ark. He attended church his whole life. He was a Christian, loving husband and devoted father. He was a forestry contractor for Weyerhaeuser for over 50 years. He served on the board of directors for Howard Memorial Hospital and the Umpire School Board and was a Justice of the Peace for Howard County.
Mr. Sharp enjoyed his hunting dogs and fishing. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports and later in his life spending time with his great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Doyce and Alice (Hughes) Sharp; and one brother, Wendell Sharp.
Mr. Sharp is survived by his wife of 58 years, Phyllis Sharp; one daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Joe Allman of Hot Springs; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Brandi Sharp of Dierks; his grandchildren, Trey and Sarah Allman, Alex Sharp, Austin and Mickinzie Allman, Jacob and Kaylynn Sharp, and Eli Sharp; great-grandchildren, Bella Allman, Kaylee Allman, Andrew Sharp, Kinsley Sharp, Landry Allman, Ellie Sharp, and Archer Allman; very special brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Karen and Bill Wakley, Dennis and Becky Sirmon and Byrl and Charlotte Sirmon; several nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Sharp will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 30, 2024, at Mount Zion Church in Athens with Bill Wakley and Wesley Wakley officiating. Burial will follow in the Bissell Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
