Maryland Charles White, 77, of Nashville, died Monday, Jan. 24, 2023.
He was born July 8, 1945, in Ozan, the son of the late Maryland and Julia Hickerson-White.
He was retired from Domtar and was a member of New Light CME Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Trustee and Steward. He was a member of the Casserite Choir and New Light Male Choir.
He was preceded in death by three siblings: Verna Williamson, Johnnie Young and Virginia Ray Johnson.
Survivors include: his wife of 56 years, Jimmie White of Nashville; daughters Kenyetta Gentry of Texarkana, Texas, and Regina White of Nashville; a son, James White of Portland, Maine; three sisters, Willie B. Hearon of Nashville, Helen Barbee of Chicago, and Polly Madlock of Ozan; a brother, Kenneth White, Idabel, Okla.; also grandchildren and great-grandchildren; many other relatives.
Visitation was Saturday, Jan. 28, at Hicks Funeral Home in Hope. Funeral services were Sunday, Jan. 29, at New Light CME Church in Nashville with Rev. Jamie Erby, presiding pastor. Burial followed at Sunset Garden Cemetery in Nashville.
