Bonnie Faye Smith, age 92 of Nashville, Ark., went to be with Jesus on Friday, Jan. 27, 2023, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on Feb. 2, 1930, in Mineral Springs to the late John Gary Sturgis and Bennie Adeline Cowling Sturgis.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the Ridgeway Baptist Church in Nashville for many years. During her tenure there, she enjoyed teaching Sunday School, working in the nursery and working Vacation Bible School. She was a homemaker. She enjoyed raising her children and helping with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael Johnson, her sister, Janie Elder and her second father, John Funderburg.
Survivors include her husband of fifty-nine and a half year, David Smith; her children, Gary Johnson, Gail Hendricks, Deborah Linzy, Mark Smith (Vanessa Lewis), Lori Linzy, and Kristi Strong (Seth); 17 grandchildren including Shawn Johnson, Tracey Johnson, Gary Johnson, II, Jay Johnson, Jason Hendricks, Jeffery Stephen Hendricks, Keri Labbe, Keli Heath, Courtland Smith, Morgan Smith, Michael Smith, Ashley Bradley, Megan Scroggins, Austin Chandler, Dillon Chandler, Kristin Chandler, Peyton Chandler; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 9-10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 30, 2023, at Ridgeway Baptist Church in Nashville.
Funeral services will follow at 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 30, 2023, at Ridgeway Baptist Church in Nashville. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.
