Nashville High School senior football players Leonard Snell and Terell Grundy have made verbal commitments to Henderson State University in Arkadelphia. Both made the decision following a recent visit to the school last week.
Scrapper head coach Mike Volarvich said he worked to remain very neutral with their decision…the two also received offers from Ouachita Baptist University and Arkansas Tech. Volarvich said Henderson has a winning record and both Snell and Grundy felt like it was a similar program, where they would have a chance at winning games. Volarvich worked with Henderson coach Scott Maxfield for about fifteen years.
The Reddies finished the 2015 season with an 11-2 record, tying the school record for wins in a season. Henderson State also claimed their fourth conference title in six years with Henderson compiling a 54-14 record since 2010.
Another Scrapper football player made a commitment on Monday. Troy Thomas has made a verbal commitment to Southern Arkansas University.
“I really love the South Arkansas type of environment. I thought long and hard about my decision and staying close to home seemed like the best decision for me. I went on 4 different visits and none compared to the “family” type of feeling that SAU had. The coaches constantly contacted me and told me how much they would love for me to be a Mulerider, everything just felt right!”
National Signing Day is Wed., Feb. 3.
