NASHVILLE – A
Lockesburg man was
arrested on drug charges
last week after a routine
traffic stop, according to
an investigator.
Nashville Narcotics
Investigator Mark Barnes
said Logan Tyrell Arter,
25, was arrested on Dec.
16 during a traffic stop.
According to Barnes, “Officer
Christ Gates stopped
a vehicle on Highway
27 Bypass because he
noticed the passenger
was not wearing a seat
belt [and] during the stop,
he could smell what he
thought was marijuana.”
Arter was the passenger
and his wife was the
driver.
“Officer Gates asked
her [Arter’s wife] to step
out of the vehicle” when
he heard something
hit the ground. Barnes
said the plastic bottle
contained “suspected
methamphetamine in it.”
Arter and his wife were
transported to the Howard
County Jail where jailers
“found another small bag
of suspected methamphetamine
on her.” Barnes
said that Arter “claimed it
was his and he told her to
hide it.”
Arter’s charges
include: possession of
a controlled substance
(methamphetamine),
possession of a controlled
substance (marijuana) and
possession of drug paraphernalia.
His bond was
set at $10,000 by Circuit
Judge Tom Cooper.
Arter’s wife was released
without charges.
