Oden rallies to defeat Ouachita

web Oden v Ouachita 12ODEN – The Oden Timberwolves rallied in the final period to defeat the Ouachita Warriors 43-39 in non-conference action last Thursday. Ouachita was victorious in the Junior boys and senior girls match ups.
The Timberwolves and Warriors battled back and forth in the opening quarter of the senior boys’ game with the first period ending in a 10-10 tie. Oden eased out front in the second to take a 19-15 half time lead.
Ouachita rallied in the third with a 12-8 run, tying things up once again, but Oden closed the game out with a 16-12 run to win the game.
Jeff Lewis hit 11 of 14 free throws, 10 of which came in the fourth period. He led the Timberwolves with 15 points. Aaron Carmack scored nine, Tyler Fair scored eight and Matt Vincent scored six. Matt Thomas scored four and Will Monk scored one.
Regan Jones led the Warriors with 22 points, Mason Norman scored six, Cole McJunkins scored five, Caleb Davis scored four and Josh McGill scored two.
In the junior boys’ game Ouachita opened with a slim 15-14 lead and was able to increase their lead to 24-17 in the second. Oden cut the lead to four in the third, but the Junior Warriors pulled away in the fourth with a 17-11 run to win the game 50-40.
John Fowler led the Junior Warriors with 15, Garrett Webb and Troston Furr each scored 10, Nathaniel Sandage scored seven, Noah Dahlke scored six and Will Hixen scored two.
Brandon Lewis led Oden with 16 points, followed by Aaron Baker with 12. Brian Kha and Zach Mayo each scored five and Ethan Mayo scored two.
Ouachita defeated the Lady Timberwolves 45-32 to win the only girls’ game of the night.
The Lady Warriors inched out to a 7-4 lead in the first period and took a 17-14 lead into the locker room at the half. Oden was able to chip into the Ouachita lead in the third with an 11-10 run, but Ouachita outpaced them 18-7 in the fourth to earn the win.
Megan Ivy led Ouachita with 15 points, Hanna Patrick scored seven, Keeley Davis scored six, Megan Collins scored five, Maci Davis and Sidney Kuykendall each scored four and Jessica Ray and Katelyn Fowler each scored two.
Sara Black was the leading scorer for the Lady Timberwolves with 15. Eden Singleton scored eight and Shelbie Kennedy scored seven. Katie Cox and Kandy Simmons each scored one.
