Oden struggles in trip to Ouachita

Oden lost three heartbreakers last week in a trip to Ouachita. The Junior Lady Timberwolves lost in a close one 26-21, while the senior girls fell 43-29 and the senior boys lost 65-59.
In the junior girls’ game, Oden eased out front 6-5 in the opening period, but Ouachita took the lead in the second with a 10-4 run.
The Junior Lady Timberwolves matched Ouachita point for point in the second half, but couldn’t cut into their lead, losing the game by five.
Alli Strother led Oden with 11 points, followed by Alli Hughes with six. Autumn Rice and Jacy Blansett each scored two.
The senior girls battled to an 8-8 tie in the first period of their matchup, but Ouachita exploded for 18 points in the second period while Oden was only able to score five. Ouachita outscored Oden 12-10 in the third, while the Lady Timberwolves got the best of Ouachita by one in the final period.
Sara Black led the Lady Timberwolves with 12 points. Eden Singleton scored six, Katie Cox scored five and Kandy Simmons scored three.
The senior boys found themselves behind the eight ball after falling behind 22-13 in the first period of their game. They cut the lead to one by halftime with a 19-11 run.
Ouachita opened the second half with a 25-15 run in the third. Oden was able to cut five from Ouachita’s lead in the fourth, but were unable to get the win.
Matthew Vincent led the Timberwolves in scoring with 12. Tyler Fair hit three 3 pointers to score nine points, while Aaron Carmack scored seven. Matthew Thomas scored five and Jacob Millwood scored two.
