Michael L. Fagan, age 58, passed away April 10, 2015 in Murfreesboro, Arkansas. He was born on July 16, 1956 in Gary, Indiana, the son of the late Billy Joe Fagan and Frances (Johnson) Fagan.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents Olvy and Elsie (Keeling) Johnson and Ellis and Willie (Harrison) Fagan, all of Murfreesboro. He was recently joined in death by his niece Stacey (Fagan) Hadley.
He is survived by two brothers Billy Charles (Gayle) Fagan of Limestone, Tennessee and David (Sandra) Fagan of Portage, Indiana, many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his cherished dog Winston.
Michael was a retired Local 150 Operating Engineer, former President of the Murfreesboro Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Pike County Archives and History Society.
Family and friends were very important to him. After an early retirement due to a heart condition, Michael travelled extensively and lived in several states before choosing Murfreesboro as his permanent home. He enjoyed genealogy, gardening and building his “cabin” which he had hoped to move into soon. He loved travelling with and visiting family and friends. He could always be counted on to join them on a cruise, visit Disney World, pack a group into his RV to tour the Western US, attend reunions in Texas and Florida, spend summers at David and Sandy’s lake house or just take a fun day trip to local festivals, rodeos or re-sell shops.
He also immensely enjoyed being involved with his community while working with several local businesses and performing his duties with the Chamber of Commerce.
Michael’s family would like to express their gratitude to the residents of Pike County Arkansas, especially Murfreesboro, for welcoming Michael back into their community. He felt truly at home in Murfreesboro where his immediate family had lived for four generations.
All are invited to join the family for a celebration of Michael’s life on Thursday, May 28, 2015 from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Murfreesboro Municipal Building, 202 E. Main Street.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Pike County Archives and History Society PO Box 875, Murfreesboro, AR 71958 or to a pet rescue center of your choice.
