NASHVILLE – A Dierks man accused of forging a Louisiana man’s signature on federal documents was sentenced to five years of probation Wednesday in Howard County Circuit Court.
Bryan Eudy, 37, was fined $2,000 and ordered to pay over $10,000 in restitution in addition to the sentence, which came after he entered guilty pleas to two counts of first degree forgery. Court documents indicate the charges stem from a report received by local authorities in September of 2014 alleging Eudy had signed a lease agreement certificiation statement for emergency government assistance from the United States Department of Agriculture in the name of John Moore, of Shreveport, Louisiana.
“The information that he obtained from that office was that [Eudy] has requested an application for assistance on May 16, 2014 and returned a week later with the documents bearing the signature of John Moore as the lessor,” police wrote in an arrest narrative attached to Eudy’s case file. “Mr. Moore denies that he signed any lease agreement with [Eudy] and that the property listed in the lease is not fenced and does not have any cattle grazing on it.”
Then-investigator John Eric Glidewell interviewed a representative from the local USDA office who corroborated that statement, the affidavit alleges.
Eudy was subsequently taken into custody in October of last year after turning himself in to the Howard County Sheriff’s Department.
