“What’s in your bucket?”

2 Corinthians 4:18 says “So we fix our eyes on not what is seen, but what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen eternal.”

So let me give you a visual. If I had a bucket with beautiful blue water in it, and you thought “Oh! How beautiful is her water, wonder if she would share some of her water with me?” So I share some of my water with you, then someone asked you for some of that water, and you share with them, so forth and so on. Eventually I think that water would get foggy, dirty, not so clear and blue anymore. Because we were getting it from a different bucket (source) each time.

It is kind of like our prayer life, we ask for things that others have that we don’t have or may just want. Have you ever been in prayer and said “ Lord, why don’t I have beautiful things like they have?” Or even just outright say,” Lord, why can’t I have what they have?”. Some of us may have thoughts like, should I pray for myself or only for others, and wonder if it selfish to pray for ourselves, maybe even plead and beg for things in prayer. The definition of prayer is to intercede with or make petition to God, or to have conversation with God- in praise, thanksgiving, or intercession. Proverbs 15:29 says “He hears the prayers of the righteous.”

I think He is just waiting to hear from us, no matter what the prayer, no matter what the plea, or like the definition says to have a conversation with God. The only thing I think makes the difference is to just always get your water (or what your asking for) from the same source. His holy water, that precious resource for drink, and irrigation, usually associated with blessing. Revelation 7:17 says… He will lead them to the springs of life-giving water. And God will wipe away all their tears.

So I believe that when you ask Him for what you need, or intercede and ask for what others may need, you only get clear water poured into your bucket (heart). Psalms 37:3-4 says ” Trust in the Lord and do good. Then you will live safely in the land and prosper. 4 Take delight in the Lord, and He will give you your heart’s desires. “I know one of my heart’s desires right now, and pray for each day is my father’s own healing of his cancer and to be able to see him more.” See I know a little about healing through prayer. Just lately, I was in the hospital with something called a thyroid storm, (hence why there was no column last week). The doctors said that it would be weeks or even months before I would be well enough to get out of the hospital, we would have to take it day by day. BUT, my Physician and God said different. He says in Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three gather together because they are mine, I am there among them.” That means to me that when you have a lot of people praying for you at one time, God answers. So, therefore what should have taken weeks or even months took only 5 days, and I was home from the hospital. So see there is nothing wrong with asking for prayer, He is the source of all things good. He is waiting to hear from you!
