A delegation from a branch of the Arkansas government, along with Howard County’s election commissioners, was due in Nashville Friday, Nov. 6 to conduct a recount of the Nashville mayoral race and the race for JP in District 9 in the south part of the county.
The recount is scheduled for 2 p.m. for the portions of the county 2026 General Election results.
The recount was requested by Juanita Jackson, the incumbent JP, and by Denise Woodruff who ran second in the Nashville mayoral race. Challenger John Raulerson opposed Jackson.
Preliminary results of the Nashville race:
Larry Dunaway, 378.
Denise Woodruff, 291.
Kelley Windham, 188.
Dunaway, the incumbent, and Woodruff, who ran as an Independent, will face in a runoff.
Howard County Clerk Keri Teague said that some ballot confusion was due to the appearance on the ballot for Mayor of Tollette. There, Brenda Porter was unopposed, but her name and the office were on the ballot, first, lumped with other unopposed candidates; and also appeared because of a new state directive that all mayor offices be on the ballot.
Clerk Teague said Friday morning that she did not expect numbers to change.
The county election commissioners are James Jones, Joe Green and Gary White.
