The Vicksburg District of the US Army Corps of Engineers has announced that the last phase of the trash rack repairs to Narrows Dam has begun.
The repairs are essential to prevent heavy debris from entering the intake tunnel, ensuring safe, long-term hydropower operations, according to a social media post.
There is no scheduled drawdown of the lake’s water levels is expected to perform the repairs.
Lake levels are currently lower than normal due to persistent drought conditions, low rainfall throughout the basin and the normally scheduled hydropower generation.
