Betty Lou Harper, age 84, of Nashville, Ark., passed away on July 31, 2026, in Nashville, Ark. She was born on May 26, 1942, in Nashville, Ark., and lived her life with warmth, grace, and a deep love for the people and places that mattered most to her.
Betty was a devoted member of Ridgeway Baptist Church and found strength and fellowship in her faith throughout her life. She also served her community with dedication as the retired Deputy Treasurer for Howard County, where she was respected for her steady work ethic, her sense of responsibility, and her kind manner. Her years of service reflected the care she carried into every part of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Marvin G. Jeans and Willie Dell Walden Jeans; her husband, Don H. Harper; and her brother, Marvin Gibson Jeans, Jr.
Betty carried the memory of her loved ones in her heart and remained a source of love and encouragement to those around her.
She is survived by: her children, Sheila and husband Scott Hicks of Nashville, and Terry and wife Jacqueline McDonald of Mineral Springs. She is also survived by her sister, Susie and husband James Fisher of San Antonio, Texas. Betty leaves behind her grandchildren, Anthony and wife Sarah Hicks, Terra and husband Jake Carey, Braiden and wife Casie McDonald, and Aron and wife Jemile McDonald. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren, Noah McDonald, Barret McDonald, Attlee McDonald, Jake Hicks, and Hailey Hicks.
Betty treasured her two best friends, Barbara Anderson and Melissa Kennedy, and loved them dearly. Their friendship brought joy and companionship to her life, and she especially enjoyed traveling with them. She also loved her cats and found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, always appreciating the comfort of home, family, and friendship.
Those who knew Betty will remember her as a loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who lived with quiet strength and a generous spirit.
The family will receive friends at Nashville Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026. A graveside service will be Monday morning at 10 a.m. at County Line Cemetery with Bro. Alan Cook officiating.
