James “Macky’ McKnight, 75, of Delight, Ark., went to be with his Lord and Savior on May 5, 2026, in Arkadelphia, Ark. He was born on June 30, 1950, to Raymond Ira and Martha Frances Miller McKnight.

He was a member of Delight First Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed sharing his faith with others. He and his wife owned and operated McKnight’s Grocery in Delight for 38 years, where he enjoyed seeing familiar faces and visiting with friends and neighbors.

He cared deeply about his community and served as President of the Delight Cemetery Association for 16 years, was one of the founders of the Delight Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Delight Lions Club. He supported the Make-A-Wish Foundation through Fun Runs and BBQ Cook-offs and helped grant wishes to wish kids. He believed in serving others and supporting local businesses.

Macky enjoyed the simple things in life, like mowing his yard and spending time with his family. He especially loved going to his granddaughters’ activities and being there for them whenever he could. They truly were his “pride and joy.”

Macky is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rheta Norman McKnight; children Jeff (Melody) McKnight and Celeste (Chris) May; grandchildren Madison (Braden) Healy, McKenzie (Bryle) Fatheree, Jenna May, Coley Caldwell, and Carol Basurto; great-grandchildren Aiden and Alec Basurto, Kannon and Aspen Cain; one very special uncle, Larry Miller; a special daughter, Rosalia Palacios, along with other aunts and uncles, a multitude of cousins, friends and former store patrons.

Visitation will be 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 8, at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, May 9, at Delight First Baptist Church, with Bro. Bryan Sellers and Bro. Verlon Wood officiating, burial to follow in Delight Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mid-South Make-A-Wish Foundation or the Delight Cemetery.
