Political observers used to say that Labor Day marked the official beginning of the campaign season.

Even though campaigns seem to go on much longer now, the countdown for the General Election is underway.

Candidates’ names were drawn for ballot placement last month.

Early voting for the 2026 General Election will begin Monday, Oct. 19. Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Contested races for local, state, and national positions with names in order of ballot position: 

Howard County

Sheriff/Collector — Joey Davis, Republican; Alex L. Gamble, Democrat.

Justice of the Peace Dist. 9 — John Reeder Raulerson, Republican; Juanita Jackson, Democrat.

City of Nashville

Mayor — Mayor Larry Dunaway, Republican; Denise Woodruff, Independent; Kelly Rhea Windham, Independent.

Nashville City Council Ward 1 Pos. 2, Joe Hoen, Independent, Susan Berruquin, Democrat.
