Negotiations are underway for the purchase of the former Husqvarna warehouse, 630 Hwy. 27 Bypass, in Nashville.

Mayor Larry Dunaway said Monday that a manufacturer is negotiating with Phoenix Investors of Milwaukee, Wisc., to purchase the property.

Phoenix bought the former Husqvarna facilities in Nashville last year following the announcement that the local operation would be closed. At that point, Phoenix began looking for a buyer or buyers for the warehouse and two other sites.

Dunaway said the negotiating process on the warehouse “is moving along pretty good. I wouldn’t be surprised to get some good news pretty soon.”

About 120 jobs would be involved to start with, Dunaway said.

The 351,763-square foot warehouse was built in 2017. There are 25 docks at the warehouse, with 37’4” clear height, according to the Phoenix Investors website.

Two other former Husqvarna properties are listed with Phoenix.

They include the 299,885-square foot manufacturing facility at 1 Poulan Drive, built in 1976; and the property at 139 Old Airport Road north of Nashville. Buildings there were constructed in 1998 and 2000.

The Husqvarna closure affected about 800 workers among the local sites.

The Developing Howard County economic development panel was formed after Husqvarna’s announcement.

DHC is working to attract new businesses and industries and to strengthen those already operating in the county.
