The Developing Howard County board of directors plans to set up four focus groups in a meeting next week.

The groups will deal with topics such as industrial and business recruitment and retention, tax education, housing, and community life.

A meeting with those interested in participating is planned for Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 5:30 p.m. at UA-Cossatot in Nashville. The meeting will include a review of last fall’s community survey. After the presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to select one of the four focus groups and begin their discussions.

Information from the groups will become part of the county’s Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS), an essential component of industrial recruitment.

Developing Howard County was formed to help strengthen existing businesses and industries in the county and to recruit new ones.

The panel was created in response to Husqvarna’s closure of its Nashville operation and subsequent loss of jobs.
