Wanda Faye Tinsley, age 93 of Nashville, Ark., passed away on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, in Nashville. She was born on Sept. 1, 1930, in the Tokio Community, to the late Lawson Compton and Madie Hatch Compton.
Mrs. Tinsley was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nashville, where she was very active in the Mary Martha Sunday School Class, spending time in her card ministry and on the bereavement committee. She lived her life loving Jesus, her family and her church community and friends. Wanda loved making her home welcoming, especially in the kitchen around her coconut cake and peach cobbler.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Arthur “Dugan” Tinsley, one son, Gary Arthur Tinsley, a great-granddaughter, Madeline Jayne Young and one brother, Charles Compton.
Survivors include: one son, Michael Tinsley; two grandchildren, Kerri (Rob) Evans, Kacey (Blake) Young, their mother, Nancy Godsey; one sister, Judy McGuire; four great-grandchildren, Luke Evans, Tinsley Evans, Ava Young, Jacob Young; special friends Lloyd Johnson and Barbara Scott who loved her dearly; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024, at First Baptist Church in Nashville.
Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024, at First Baptist Church with Blake Young and Bro. Kevin Sartin officiating. Interment will follow in Restland Memorial Park, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Nashville.
