Henley takes District #88 runoff

Former Nashville Parks and Recreation Director Dolly Henley ran second in the Preferential Primary Election for State Representative, but she won the runoff by 300 votes last Tuesday.

Henley led voting in all three counties in which District #88 is located. Henley received a total of 1,328 votes; her opponent, Arnetta Bradford, got 1,028. Neither candidate had previously held public office.

The runoff race for South Howard County District JP was won by Juanita Jackson, who narrowly outpolled Stacy Turner 51-47. The race was for the quorum court vacancy created by the death of Bobby Don Turner.

Another runoff was for the Mineral Springs School Board district seat encompassing parts of Howard and Hempstead counties. Incumbent Ricky Gamble outpolled Kay Thornton 62-26.
