A. Allen Cox, 90, of Pocahontas passed away Monday, April 1, 2024, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro.
He was born July 21, 1933, in Dixon, Ill., to the late Bealy and Irene Ikens Cox. Allen was an Army veteran, worked as a maintenance supervisor at a grain elevator and feed mill, and was a certified electrician. He volunteered at The Salvation Army, was a member of the American Legion, and a member of First United Methodist Church. Allen’s hobbies include woodworking, hunting, and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bealy and Irene Cox; granddaughter, Michelle Louise Bohn; and four sisters.
Allen is survived by his wife, Marlene Johnson Cox; daughter, Valerie (Randy) Bohn of Nashville, Ark.; grandchildren, Nicole Reid of Greenwood and Pamela Bohn of Pocahontas; great-grandchildren, Abigail and Maddi Reid of Greenwood and Chloe, Richard, and Lexi Wheeler of Pocahontas; sister-in-law, Judy (Harvey) Sommerville of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; many nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 4, 2024, from 1-2 p.m. in the chapel of McNabb Funeral Home with a funeral service beginning at 2 p.m. with Pat Bodenhamer officiating. A burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Gardens.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Randy Bohn, Mike Schultz, Keith Schultz, Larry Robert, Larry Ranthum, and Dan Stoddard. Richard Wheeler will serve as honorary pallbearer.
