Nobie Muriel Gills, age 92 of Nashville, Ark., entered heaven on Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, at her home. She was born on Dec. 18, 1931, in Gurdon, Ark., to the late Thomas Walter Mills and Susie Myrtle Stroud Mills.

She was a member of First Baptist Church, Nashville, where she loved being part of the Mary Martha Class. She enjoyed participating with them in Operation Christmas Child, as well as serving the Lord through various church activities.

She thought her greatest accomplishment was being a mother and grandmother. She never missed an opportunity to share how proud she was of her family. She grew up attending Cross Roads Baptist Church, singing gospel songs with her sisters, and loved nothing more than to hear her family being together, laughing and singing. She loved being surrounded by children, rocking the babies, and playing games with older ones. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed reading Bible verses, poetry, and mystery novels.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, JW “Dub” Gills, a daughter, Gail Gills Castleberry; a son, Philip Gills; three sisters, Willow Mae Thompson-McCullough, Faye Dell Huckabee-Gary and Betty Morris.

Survivors include: a daughter, Suzanne (Gary) Montgomery, Nashville; two sons, Lewis (Ginger) Gills, and Gary (Kara) Gills, both of Murfreesboro; 11 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2024, at the Latimer Funeral Chapel in Nashville. Arrangements are under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home of Nashville.
