Jimmy Charles Gaddis, 83, of Texarkana, Ark., died at his home Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2024.

Born June 3, 1940, in Dierks, Ark., he graduated Dierks High School in 1958 and shortly thereafter joined the United States Army stationed in Nuremberg, Germany, with SP4 rank. Upon completion of his military service, he attended welding school which led to a lifelong career in welding, iron work and construction and relocations to Minnesota, Ohio, Texas, Illinois, and Florida. He retired from his favorite job with Ranch Cryogenics in 2020 having traveled nationally and internationally as a Project Superintendent.    

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Vondal “Granny” Gaddis, and J.O. “Pap” Gaddis of Dierks, Ark., and his sister, Donna Hefner of Mena, Ark.

He is survived by: his wife of 33 years, Karolyn Kay Gaddis; his sister, Betty Jo Johnson of Mena, Ark.; his daughters Jamie Gaddis of Memphis, Tenn., and LeAnn Burke (Kevin) of Cincinnati, Ohio; along with two grandsons, Jackson and Cooper Burke of West Point, N.Y. and Cincinnati, Ohio, respectively; and other relatives and many friends.

His happiest times were spent doing what he loved most — hunting and fishing.  “Gad” cherished his guns, dogs, and the many friends with whom he shared this passion. 

Funeral services for Mr. Gaddis will be held 2 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 3, 2024, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bobby Neal officiating. Burial will be private.

Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. 

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Texarkana or the Greens Chapel Cemetery.
