Melvin Kennedy, 89, of Murfreesboro died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024.
She was born March 12, 1934, in Murfreesboro, the daughter of the late Edwin Parley Mower, Mary Cranford, and Walter Meckel.
She was a member of Maple Springs Baptist Church and served as a song leader for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Donald Kennedy; brothers Ansel Mabery, William Johnson, Roy Johnson, and Donald Meckel; sisters Laura Johnson Bailey Widener, and Dorothy Schmidt.
Survivors include: a son, Ronald Kennedy; two daughters, Lisa Kennedy and Julie Cherry; also grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 9 a.m., until service time at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 27, at Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro. Burial will follow in Murfreesboro Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Murfreesboro.
