Buried during Howard County’s centennial celebration in 1983, a time capsule was brought to light from its burial site on the courthouse lawn Tuesday morning, Jan. 16.

County road crews were joined by County Judge Brent Pinkerton and Circuit Judge Bryan Chesshir on the 12-degree morning for the unearthing. Judge Chesshir said he was nine years old and in the picture’s background when the “Nashville News” photographer captured the event. That photo led to the location of the time capsule. Judge Pinkerton said that the capsule will be opened later “when it’s warmer.”
