Mrs. Neta Dell Dowdy Pickett, age 89, a resident of Lockesburg, Ark., died Thursday, Oct. 12, 2023, at The Springs of Minecreek in Nashville, Ark.
She was born Aug. 18, 1934, in Nashville, Ark. She was a member of Old Union Missionary Baptist Church. She specialized in interior painting and wallpaper hanging and was also a waitress at Joda’s Cafe. She enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing and loved her family, all her friends and her church family and her cats.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alta Faye Upton Lindler; her father, Nelson Dowdy and stepmother, Letha Mae Dowdy; husband, James R. Pickett; two brothers, Charles Dowdy and Jessie Ray Lindler; son-in-law, Terry Butler, and granddaughter-in-law, Kim Gathright.
She is survived by: two daughters, Barbara Butler of Nashville and Diann Wooten and husband Wallace of Lockesburg; one son, David Pickett and wife, Katrina of Dierks; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Dowdy of Mesquite, Texas; six grandchildren, Steven Butler, Cheri Helms, Jeremy Pickett, Michael Gathright, Brian Gathright and Kelsey Adams; three great-grandchildren, Melissa, Chris, Anna; three great-great-grandchildren, Chloe, Becklyn, Drake and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Pickett will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 14, 2023, at Old Union Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. Donnie Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Old Union Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home in De Queen.
Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, Oct. 13, 2023, at the funeral home.
