Funeral services for Mrs. Joyce Mae Cornish, age 85, of Marshall, Texas, are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 23 at the Temperanceville Baptist Church with Bobby Fischer officiating.

Mrs. Cornish passed away Sept. 19th in a Tyler hospice. She was born Aug. 5th, 1938, in Caldwell, Texas, the daughter of the late Oland and Elsie Alexander. She grew up in Baytown, Texas, where she met her husband. Mrs. Cornish has lived in Marshall, Texas, since 1984, moving from Utah. Mr. and Mrs. Cornish moved to Albuquerque, N.M., after marrying, then moved to Brigham City, Utah, after Mr. Cornish’s time in the service.

She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church of Marshall. She served as the pianist at every church of which she was a member. She married Harold Cornish August 9th, 1958. She was a member of the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. She taught first grade for 14 years. She taught student teachers in the education department at ETBU. She was an avid painter and loved to share her art with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Cornish is preceded in death by her parents, Oland and Elsie Alexander, and her brother, Herbert Alexander.

Mrs. Cornish is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Harold Cornish of Marshall, Texas; son, Kevin Cornish and wife, Joy of Starkville, Miss.; grandchildren, Brittany Sutton and husband Cody of Elysian Fields, Amanda Endsley and husband Sean of Waco, Texas, Andrew Cornish and wife Nicole of Athens, Texas, and Cole Cornish of Waco, Texas; great-grandchildren Kinsler, Bexar, Grace, Easton, Rip, and Joseph.
