Biography: Bertram Johnson, 87, of Paraloma, Ark., made a peaceful transition on Sept. 21, 2023, at his home.  He was born on Feb. 11, 1936, in Paraloma, to the late Sammie Johnson and Hessie Lee Vaughn Johnson.

Bertram attended Paraloma -Anne M P Strong School and graduated from Howard County Training School High School. He matriculated at Central State College, Wilberforce, Ohio. He joined the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He worked numerous jobs that prepared him for his managerial position Michael Lewis Company, Chicago, Ill. He retired and returned to Paraloma. He became a faithful leader and Lay Servant for Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Nashville. He served as president for Paraloma Cemetery Preservation Association from inception in 2007 until 2023. He was a faithful supporter of Paraloma Homecoming Association.

He is survived by, his beloved wife Mrs. Yong Cha Johnson, joined in union for 22 years, and his 12 sisters and brothers, host of nieces and nephews, church families at Ebenezer UMC, Scotts Memorial UMC and Neighborhood UMC, Ill., and Aunts and Uncles and host of cousins and friends.

The celebration of his life will be held Friday, Sept. 29 from 5-6 p.m. at Nashville Funeral Home, 1208 Sunset St., Nashville, AR 71852. 

Funeral Services: Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 318 S Dodson St, Nashville, AR 71852. 

Interment: Paraloma Cemetery, Paraloma, AR, 1330 Hwy 234, Lockesburg, AR 71846

In lieu of flowers, donations to: Vaughn-Johnson Scholarship Fund or Ebenezer UMC are all appreciated. 

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Nashville Funeral Home, Nashville, Ark.
