Edna “Wanda” Young, 83, of Dierks, Ark., passed away Saturday, July 22, 2023, in Nashville, Ark., surrounded by her loved ones. She was born Sept. 1, 1939, to the late Jessie and Dorothy Porterfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mrs. Young was a member of Dierks Church of Christ. Wanda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and camping and fishing with her husband. She always looked forward to Thanksgiving and Christmas when all the family would get together. If you asked her what her greatest accomplishment was, she would say being a mom. She was a constant presence in her family’s lives, always there to offer a helping hand or a listening ear. She was a kind, loving and generous person who touched the lives of everyone she met. She cherished her family greatly but above all she was devoted to her lord and savior.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Billy Tom Young of Dierks; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stan and Jennifer Young of Hot Springs Village and Steve and Ginger Young of Dierks; one daughter, Ronda Young of Conway; three brothers, Clinton Dale Porterfield, Hancil Wayne Porterfield, and Jerry Mack Porterfield; 11 grandchildren, Amy Warbritton, Blake Eudy, Jessica Simpson, Lakan McAdams, Brittany Byrd, Rachael Emerson, Will Young, Alisa Young, Amanda Young, Harrison Brumley, and Cody Brumley, and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors at Dierks Church of Christ Wednesday, July 26, 2023 from 1-2 p.m.
Services will begin at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at the Dierks Church of Christ, followed by burial at Green Plains Cemetery, under the direction of Latimer Funeral Home in Nashville.
