Lillie Irene Whisenhunt, age 81, of Newhope, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2017.
She was born on March 8, 1936 in Big Cedar, Okla., the daughter of Earl Anderson Davis and Novella Simmons Davis. On Dec. 26, 1951, she was married to Harvey Ray “H. R.” Whisenhunt who preceded her in death on March 24, 2017. Together, they were blessed with eight children. She was also preceded in death by her son, Terry “Bug” Whisenhunt; her parents; three brothers, Harvey Davis, D. L. Davis and Melton Lee “Bounce” Davis; her sister, Ruth Davis; and her dog, Jake.
She loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, gardening and caring for her flowers. She loved to cook for her family and friends and crocheting.
She is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Eugene and Rosie Whisenhunt and Brad and Allie Whisenhunt, all of Newhope, and Mike and Tonja Whisenhunt of Kirby; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Rita Faye and Jim Neal of Kirby, Janet “Kay Kay” Rainwater and Dina and Jerry Roan, all of Newhope, and Vanessa Lewis of Dierks; her dog, Charlie, of the home; her daughter-in-law, Vickie James of Hope; twenty-two grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Vernon “Slick” and Freda Davis, Eugene “Hoot” and Laveta Davis, Jane Davis, Ethel and Ray Pinkerton and Lorene Whisenhunt; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends and loved ones.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, in the Pleasant Grove Free Will Baptist Church with Bro. David Walker officiating.
Interment was in Pleasant Grove Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Smith Funeral Home, Glenwood.
Pallbearers included David Davis, Roger Davis, Joel Davis, Chris Davis, John Howell, Shannon Davis, Russell Young and Earl Davis.
