Grace Marie Byrom (Grandma Grace), 96, of Mineral Springs, Ark., passed from her worldly home on Monday, April 24, 2017 in Nashville, Ark.

She was born on Nov. 2, 1920 in Glenpool, Okla., the daughter of the late Cairl V. and Burley Rebecca Clanton Cass.

Mrs. Byrom was a member of the Industrial City Baptist Church in Amarillo, Texas, where she lived from 1948 to 1962. Grace began raising chickens for Tyson Foods in 1969 until the ice storm in 2000, when she retired at age 80. She loved fishing, gardening, working in the yard, sewing, quilting, with much of her work being hand stitched and hand quilted. She enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, the bigger the better and couldn’t hardly be beat in dominoes or forty-two.

She loved holding kids of all ages and singing songs that her Daddy used to sing to her.  She lived through two World Wars, the Great Dust Bowl, The Great Depression, and many long hard days in the cotton field picking cotton or bolls. She wasn’t a stranger to hard work and hard times. She made the best of what life dealt her. She loved her family but most of all her God. The world is a better place because of her.

(Becky) Crow, Theresa M. (Bobbie) Mitchell, Burl B. (Johnny) Cass, Mary Jane Shirley, Cairl Lee (Carl) Cass; as well as two sons-in-law, Vernon Landtroop and Charles Furr.
