Maria Apon Bryan, age 92 of San Antonio, Texas, formally of Hot Springs, passed away Friday evening, July 1, 2016. Maria was born on January 6, 1924, the daughter of Herbert Apon and Hazel Sandberg Apon. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixteen years, N. C. Bryan; three brothers; and two sisters. Maria was born in Griffith, Indiana and grew up in and around Hopper and Caddo Gap, Arkansas. She became a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) and continued on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Wichita State University to become a Registered Nurse (RN). Maria found a great deal of personal comfort and strength in her life by always being a member of the local Southern Baptist Church in each community she relocated to. She is survived by her son and his spouse, Terry and Mary Sellinger of San Antonio, Texas; her daughter, Jeanne Sellinger of Henderson, Nevada; three grandchildren, Mike Sellinger, Ron Sellinger and Rob Sellinger; ive great-grandchildren, Grant Sellinger, Maddie Sellinger, Matthew Sellinger, Daniel Sellinger and Angelina Sellinger; numerous nieces and nephews, and most notably her grand-niece, Connie Hernandez of Wichita, Kansas. Graveside services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 8, 2016 in the Hopper Cemetery, with John Herring officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of DavisSmith Funeral Home, Hot Springs.
