Mr. James Leon “Doogie” Cogburn, age 68, a resident of Dierks, Arkansas, died Monday, July 4, 2016, in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was born on March 15, 1948, in Hatfield, Arkansas. He was a retired heavy equipment operator for Weyerhaeuser for 20 years, a self-employed mechanic, a member of the Oak Hill Masonic Lodge, an antique automobile enthusiast and a Christian. Mr. Cogburn was preceded in death by his parents, James “Jim” and Dora Perrin Cogburn and four sisters, Mary Lou Moore, Ruthie Cogburn, Helen Cogburn and Defie Cogburn. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Thelma Hile Cogburn; one daughter and son-in-law, Lutrica Lynn and Mike Ward; one son, Daniel Lee Cogburn all of Dierks; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Hazel Demasters of Lodi, Arkansas, Betty Cooper of Marvell, Arkansas and Pat and Johnny Kesterson of Dierks; one brother, Lloyd Cogburn of Lodi, Arkansas; ive grandchildren, Brittany and husband Ben Witherspoon of Nashville, Arkansas, Aaron McRaven, Blake Cogburn, Jarod Cogburn and Jennifer and husband, Zach White all of Dierks; two great-grandchildren, Landry Craven of Nashville and Addison White of Dierks and a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services for Mr. Cogburn were held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 7, 2016, in the Wilkerson Funeral Home Chapel in Dierks with Farrell Shepherd and Kenny Fant officiating. Burial with Masonic rites was in the Fellowship Cemetery in Dierks. Memorials may be made to the Dierks High School band or the Fellowship Cemetery fund.
