The Rotary Club of Nashville heard a discussion on Nutrition and Heart Health during its regularly weekly meeting on Wednesday.
Denise Graves, dietician at Wadley Senior Clinic in Texarkana, spoke to the club about eating better and things they could do to improve their dietary habits. Wadley Senior Clinic is a part of the Wadley Regional Medical System, and is for patients 55 years of age and older. Medicare and some insurances are accepted by the clinic.
Graves gave some tips on things you can do to improve your diet on a daily basis, stating that it was important to focus on making healthy choices on a daily basis, and taking small steps towards that goal by choosing to eat more vegetables and healthier items.
One tip she gave the members of Rotary was to go to the Farmer’s Market and pick the freshest vegetables, and plan your meal’s protein choice around them.
Graves also spoke on the importance of omega-3 fatty acids in one’s diet.
