NASHVILLE – An afternoon traffic stop turned into a pursuit through the Buck Range area Tuesday.
Shortly after 1:30 p.m. on March 15, Nashville Police Officer Wayne Epperly initiated a traffic stop near Walmart. The suspect, Lloyd R. Witherspoon, did not stop and a pursuit ensued, according to Nashville Assistant Police Chief Amy Marion. “Other Nashville officers, Howard County Sheriff’s Department, Mineral Springs Police Department, and Arkansas State Police assisted with the pursuit that ended on Johnson Road. The suspect left the vehicle and fled into the woods. The suspect was not located, but turned himself in at the sheriff’s department at approximately 5:15 p.m.” Marion added that Witherspoon listed an address of 190 Johnson Road in Nashville.
Witherspoon, 50, was cited for fleeing, failure to pay registration, no driver’s license, and no proof of liability insurance.
Witherspoon is scheduled to appear in Howard County District Court today.
