Producers in Little River and Howard/Pike County are eligible to apply for 2015 Livestock Forage Disaster Program (LFP) benefits on improved pasture and forage sorghum. The County committees can now accept LFP applications until FEBRUARY 1, 2016.
LFP provides compensation to eligible livestock producers who suffered grazing losses for covered livestock due to drought on privately owned or cash leased land. Eligible livestock must have been owned, purchased, or entered into contract to purchase during the 60 days prior to the beginning date of the qualifying drought and must have been maintained for commercial use. The following dates will be used as the beginning date of the drought: September 22, 2015 in Little River County and October 13, 2015 in Howard County and October 20, 2015 in Pike County.
Eligible livestock types under LFP include alpacas, beef cattle, dairy cattle, deer, elk, emus, equine, goats, llamas, poultry, sheep or swine that have been or would have been grazing the eligible grazing land or pastureland.
For 2015 and subsequent years, eligible livestock producers must complete a CCC-853 and the required supporting documentation no later than February 1, 2016
Additional Information about LFP, including eligible livestock and fire criteria, is available at your local FSA office or online at: www.fsa.usda.gov
