NASHVILLE – Howard County’s most experienced
law enforcement officer has changed
employers this week. David Shelton, who
has been with the Howard County Sheriff’s
Department since 1993, began work Tuesday
as an Investigator with the 9th West District
Prosecuting Attorney’s office. Shelton was
originally hired as jail administrator and
deputy sheriff before moving into the C.I.D.
section of the sheriff’s office.
Before working with the sheriff’s department,
Shelton was employed a number of
years with the Dierks Police Department.
As an investigator with the prosecutor’s
office, he will be assisting law enforcement
personnel in Howard, Pike, Sevier and Little
River counties.
Sheriff Bryan McJunkins presented Shelton
with a plaque of appreciation for his years of
service to the county.
“David had almost 23 years with the county
and was the most senior LEO in the county.
I wish him well in his new position with the
prosecutor’s office. He will be available to assist
all LE agencies in the district. I’ve learned
a lot over the years while working with David,”
McJunkins said.
