The Caddo Hills Lady Indians win a 40-39 thriller over the Kirby Lady Trojans Friday as Caddo takes two of three against the visiting Kirby teams.
The Lady Trojans edged out to a 10-8 lead in the first period, but let Caddo Hills take the lead with a 10-5 run in the second. The third period was a repeat of the first with Kirby outscoring Caddo 12-8 to take a 29-26 lead. Caddo rallied in the fourth with a 14-8 run to win the nail biter by one.
Sara Bershers was the leading scorer for Caddo Hills with 15, followed by Rachel Dumont with nine. Jordan Powell scored seven, Haley Ortiz scored six and Scarlet Beggs scored three.
Kacie Anderson and Brooke Mitchell each scored 12 to lead the Lady Trojans in scoring. Gracen Smith scored six, Jocie Crump scored five and Cammie York and Kailee Cowart each scored two.
The Junior Lady Indians won easily, 45-16, in junior girls’ action.
They jumped out to a 16-2 lead in the first period and outscored Kirby 18-4 in the second to take a 34-6 halftime lead. They went on to win the game by 29.
Traci Bershers led Caddo Hills with 13 points, followed by Lilli Hunt and Taylor Allen with 10 each. Abby West scored six and Nalley Lopez and Ashton Young each scored two. Wraylin Phillips and Capri Fogle each scored one.
Golden Lindsey was the leading scorer for Kirby with six, followed by Adi Harmon and Reid with three each. Josie Mount and Jones each scored two.
Kirby escaped the night with a win in the senior boys’ game with the Trojans walking away with a 60-45 victory.
The Trojans jumped out to a 20-8 lead in the opening stanza, but Caddo cut the lead to two by the half with a 22-12 run in the second quarter. Things slowed down in the third with Kirby outscoring the Indians 8-2. The Trojans went on a 20-13 run in the fourth to win the game by 15.
Carson Smith led the Trojans with 20 points, followed by Lee Whisenhunt with 14 and Spencer Jones with 13. Dawson Bailey and Even Mount each scored four, Bo Stewart scored two and Kyle Rudolph scored one.
Hagen Cimino scored 20 to lead the Indian effort, followed by Terrick Hulvey with nine and Josh Stone with seven. Christian Duggan scored four and Alex Ramey scored two.
