A Hot Springs teen was arraigned last Tuesday on one count of possession with intent to deliver marijuana.
According to documents obtained from the Montgomery County Clerkâs Office Alexander Burgess, age 17 of Hot Springs, was charged with one count of possession of a schedule VI controlled substance with purpose to deliver, a class D felony. He also facesa class A misdemeanor charge for possession of drug paraphernalia.
Court documents state that MCSO officer Josh Hackney spotted a vehicle sitting in the Exxon parking lot in Mount Ida after the business had closed. Hackney stated in his report that he stopped to make sure the driver of the vehicle was ok.He alleged that when he made contact with Burgess he could smell a faint hint of marijuana.
The report states that Hackney asked Burgess if he had anything in the vehicle. Burgess allegedly handed Hackney a small blue bottle containing a small amount of marijuana. At this time MCSO officer Joe Weston arrived to assist in the search. Weston was reported to have found a large jar allegedly filled with marijuana, scales, a glass pipe and other pieces of drug paraphernalia.
Burgess was arraigned November 24. A jury trial was set for January 29, 2016.
