    NASHVILLE – There are currently 13
    candidates that have filed to run for office
    in Howard County for the upcoming 2016
    elections.
    Among those who have filed, there are
    currently 5 Republicans, 5 Democrats, and
    3 Independents seeking election. There
    are currently only 2 candidates out of 13
    who have not previously held office in the
    County or the city of Nashville.
    Candidates running as a Republican
    this election cycle are Keri Teague for
    Howard County Clerk, John Gray for
    Howard County Coroner, Gary Welch for
    Justice of the Peace (JP) District 2, Jerry
    Harwell for JP District 5, and Joe Hoen for
    Nashville City Ward 1, Position 2
    Democratic candidates include Angie
    Lewis, for Howard County Circuit Clerk,
    Debbie Teague for Howard County Assessor,
    Archie W. “Cotton” Cothren for JP
    District 2, Nick Davis for Nashville City
    Ward 2, Position 2, and Michael
    Milum for Nashville
    City Ward 6, Position 2.
    Those choosing to run
    as an Independent are Bryan
    McJunkins, for Howard
    County Sherriff/Collector,
    Janice Huffman for JP District
    4, and Brent Pinkerton
    for JP District 6.
    As of 1 p.m. on Nov. 4,
    there are no filings for any
    positions in Dierks, Mineral
    Springs, or Tollette for Alderman
    positions.
    The final day to file as a
    candidate is Nov. 9 at noon.
