Thursday night the
Outlaws rolled into Murfreesboro
to try to seal
up the 4th seed in the
7-2A West. Dierks started
off the game hot as they
drove the length of the
field on the opening possession.
With 4:52 remaining
in the first quarter
running back Trendin
McKinney muscled in
a one yard touchdown
run. The extra point was
blocked and the Outlaws
led early 6-0.
The rest of the half was
extremely quiet as neither
team found pay dirt. The
scoreless drought would
last until 7:29 remaining
in the 3rd quarter when
Outlaw quarterback Jake
Green took in a one yard
touchdown run and found
Tyler Kesterson on the
2-point conversion pass
and the lead grew to 14-0
for the Outlaws.
Finally the Rattler offense
would come to life.
With 9:19 remaining in
the game, Rattler running
back Garner would run it
in from eight yards out,
the extra point good, the
Rattlers only trailed 14-7.
The Outlaws would
move the ball but would
have to punt it back to the
Rattlers. The Outlaw defense
would bend but not
break, and would force
the ball back to the offense,
who would run the
clock out to end the game.
Jake Green finished the
night 5-10 passing for 49
yards and 8 rushes for 18
yards and a touchdown.
Trendin McKinney
would tote the ball 24
times for 142 yards and a
touchdown.
Brayden Kirby led the
defense with 16 tackles.
McKinney and Cale Adams
would have 8 tackles
each and Tyler Kesterson
had 4 tackles and 2 interceptions.
The Outlaws will start
their playoff journey Friday
night with a trip to
the 2nd seed in the 5-2A
Conway Christian Eagles.
