Glenwood woman, Amity man killed in three vehicle accident

    PEARCY – A Glenwood woman was killed in a three vehicle accident on State Highway 70 in Garland County Tuesday night.

    Carol D. Norwood, a 47 year old Glenwood resident, was the passenger on a 2012 Harley Davidson Motorcycle that was being driven by Michael A. Poland, 41, of Amity.

    According to the Arkansas State Police report, the wreck took place around 6:28 p.m. when the Poland struck the left rear of a 2003 Toyota, which was stopped while waiting to traffic to clear to make a left hand turn.

    Upon striking the vehicle, Norwood was thrown across the lane, striking a 1994 Ford.

    Reportedly, neither the operator nor the passenger of the motorcycle was wearing a helmet.

    Poland experienced some injuries and was taken by air to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Hot Springs.

    Norwood’s body is being held at Davis Smith Funeral Home in Glenwood.

    The police report lists the conditions as dry and clear at the time of the accident.

    The fatality marks the 321st death investigated by the ASP in Arkansas in 2015.
