James W. Rucker, Sr., 91 of Nashville, Arkansas, passed away on Saturday, August 1, 2015 following a short illness. James was born on March 25, 1924 to the late Charley Rucker and Cordia Currin. James worked 36 years at Inland Steel Mill where he retired. James Rucker accepted the Lord at an early age. He was a member of New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in Gary, Indiana until his relocation to Nashville, Arkansas where he joined Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He married Katie Neely (deceased) of Gary, Indiana and to this union five children were born; three sons, Abdur-Rahman (Rachida) of Jacksonville, Florida, Robert J. Rucker of Aurora, Colorado, and Curtis L. Rucker of Gary, Indiana; two daughters, Sandra L. Rucker of Gary, Indiana, and Janice M. Taylor (Lawrence) of Modesto, California. On June 20, 1977 he married Dora L. Williams who preceded him in death along with his sister Ester Mae Harris, Fred Rucker (brother) and son Steve Pickett. He leaves to cherish his memory three sons; two daughters; one stepdaughter; Judy Mathis of Mineral Springs; twenty grandchildren; two step grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; cousins; and a host of family and friends. Services will be Friday, August 7, 2015 at 11:00 am. at Nashville Funeral Home with Charles Green, Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in St. Paul Cemetery, Hempstead County Road 342, Nashville.
