Lou Ellen CoxLou Ellen (Burt) Cox, age 73, of Waxahachie, passed away Wednesday, July 29, 2015 in Irving. She was born April 5, 1942 in Dierks, Arkansas. She graduated from Dierks High School in 1960 then moved to Waxahachie. Lou married Johnny Cox on August 6, 1965 in Waxahachie. Lou worked for numerous businesses before becoming a homemaker for the past 30 years. She attended Bible Baptist Church in Waxahachie. Lou was a loving wife, mother, sister and daughter. Survivors include her loving husband of almost 50 years, Johnny Cox of Waxahachie; one son, Jesse Cox of Irving; three brothers, Glen Burt and wife, Bettye of Maumelle, Thomas Whisenhunt and wife, Lena of Dierks and Bobby Whisenhunt and wife, Janet of Dierks; one sister, Jo Whisenhunt of Dierks; uncle, Royal Burt and wife, Vivian of Lonoke; aunt, Bonnie Burt of DeQueen; four nephews, Rodney Burt, Christopher Whisenhunt, Steven Whisenhunt and Jonathan Whisenhunt; four nieces, Julie Burt Diamant, Dana Whisenhunt Harris, Tracy Whisenhunt Kendrick and Jennifer Whisenhunt Jester; several great nieces; great nephews; cousins; and friends.
Lou was preceded in death by her mother, Oleta Burt Whisenhunt; grandparents, Mack Duff and Lou Ella (McClure) Burt; five uncles; and one aunt. Visitation for family and friends will be 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, August 2, 2015 in the chapel of the Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home with Pastor Todd Grimes officiating. Interment will be at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
