James David “J.D.” Newton, age 87, of Provo died Thursday, May 28, 2015

American flagJames David “J.D.” Newton, age 87, a resident of Provo, Arkansas died Thursday, May 28, 2015 in Nashville, Arkansas. He was born May 20, 1928 in Choctaw County, Oklahoma. He was a retired truck driver for SRT, a U.S. Army veteran, having served in Korea, and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Mr. Newton was preceded in death by his parents, Jim “Fud” Newton and Stella Key Newton; his wife, Cora Geneva Mears Newton; a son, Jimmy Clayton Newton; and a son-in-law, Bobby Bradshaw. He is survived by one daughter, Wannell Bradshaw of Provo; two brothers, Sammy Mears and Jimmy Wayne Mears, both of Mt. Vernon, Texas; five grandchildren and their spouses, Chad and Carmella Bradshaw of Provo, Mindy Simmons of Provo, Amanda and Jason Miller of Provo, Onawa and James Hughes of Gillham, Arkansas and Tawana Newton of Provo; a daughter-in-law, Jonnie Lynn Newton; 17 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Newton will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 in the Alleene Community Building with Bro. Larry Fry officiating. Burial will follow in the Alleene Cemetery, under the direction of Wilkerson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, May 29, 2015 at the home of Wannell Bradshaw, 165 McHorse Rd. in Provo. You may register on-line at www.wilkersonfuneralhomes.com
