DE QUEEN – A man from
Pike County is in custody
there after allegedly threat-
ening his wife with a firearm
and discharging that fire-
arm, then leading police
on a chase through Sevier
County.
Jeremy Jewell, 39, was
reported as having pointed
a gun at his wife’s head after
the two were involved in an
altercation in their home
Tuesday evening, then fir-
ing the weapon into the air,
according to statements
made by prosecuting at-
torney Bryan Chesshir to
media. Jewell reportedly
then left the home.

A search for Jewell in
several counties eventu-
ally led to his vehicle being
identified around 6 p.m.
along Highway 71 in Se-
vier County, according to
police sources. Jewell, in
the vehicle, allegedly then
led members of local law
enforcement as well as the
Arkansas State Police on a
chase through Sevier Coun-
ty which ended in a wreck
about 6:30 p.m. between De
Queen and Gillham.
In connection with the
chase and wreck, another
vehicle was struck by a
Sevier County Sheriff’s De-
partment cruiser. A female
victim of the crash was
reportedly transported to
a Texarkana area hospital
for treatment of injuries
sustained in the accident,
though her name and con-
dition have not been re-
leased, nor has the name
of the deputy driving the
police vehicle which col-
lided with her vehicle.
Jewell is being held in
the Pike County Detention
Center.
