Glenwood CADC Senior Adult Center Column

Many people observe Easter in a number of ways. You may celebrate it by fire vigils, which cleanses and purifies, sunrise services, bluegrass music or water baptism.
One time these two brothers decided to be baptized. They felt they had reached the age of accountability, when they turned 50. Up until then, their lives had been filled with sin and all types of corruption, enjoying each pleasure the world has to offer. Now they realized their lives were leading them astray on a downhill venture.
Their father was an upright, respected man among all who knew him. So the brothers decided to be baptized in the same place their father was, thinking maybe they also could lead a fruitful life, discarding all the wickedness and terrible acts displayed by them. Standing beside the baptismal alongside the preacher one brother requested to go first. The preacher agreed, asking him if there was a reason he wanted to go first. “Yes, there is”, he answered. “If water baptism washes away sins,  I’m afraid there won’t be enough water left in here after all his sins are washed away.”
