James Edward “Eddie” Cobb, age 79, passed away on Oct. 7, 2026, in Hot Springs, Ark. He was born on July 16, 1947, in Nashville, Ark., and lived a life marked by devotion to family, friendship, community, and the many interests that brought him joy throughout the years.

He was the son of the late James Wilson and Evelyn Mickey Freeman Cobb. Eddie grew up in Nashville, where he formed the values and relationships that would remain central to his life. He was a proud member of the Nashville Scrappers Class of 1965 and later attended the University of Arkansas, graduating in 1971. His education and early experiences helped shape a lifetime of steady work, loyalty, and pride in his hometown roots.

Eddie spent much of his professional life working in accounting and railroad operations. He was employed by GNA Railroad as a cost accountant and freight agent, and he also worked for Tyson Foods as a cost accountant. In each role, he was known for his dependability, attention to detail, and strong work ethic. He approached his responsibilities with quiet dedication and earned the respect of those who worked alongside him.

A true sports enthusiast, Eddie was a die-hard fan who loved the Nashville Scrappers, the Arkansas Razorbacks, and the Chicago Cubs. His enthusiasm for athletics began early, as he loved playing all sports during his high school years and carried that passion with him throughout his life. He was known as the first unofficial sports reporter for the ‘Nashville News,’ a role that reflected both his love of sports and his gift for sharing that excitement with others. He also served as former past president of the Nashville Jaycees, demonstrating his commitment to civic involvement and local fellowship.

Eddie was a lifelong member and golfer at the Nashville Country Club, where he enjoyed the game and the friendships that came with it. The golf course, like so many other places in his life, was a setting where he could enjoy good company, friendly competition, and the simple pleasures he treasured. He had a warm presence and a steady spirit that made him a valued friend and neighbor to many.

He is survived by his wife, Denise Luckett Cobb; three children, James Wilson and wife Sarah Cobb, Jordan Worth Cobb, and Jeffrey Watson and wife Kayla Cobb; one sister, Carolyn and husband Eddie Aslin; and five grandchildren, Henri, Carter, Noah, Ty, and Isla Cobb. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and other family members and friends who will cherish his memory and the many ways he touched their lives.

Those who knew Eddie will remember his loyalty, his love of family, his devotion to sports, and the pride he took in his community and hometown
