 Aberdeen Douglas Johnson departed this life on April 11, 2025.  He was born Oct. 21, 1941, in Paraloma, to the late Sammie and Hessie Lee Johnson. He is the grandson of the late Charlie Johnson and Allie B Johnson and maternal grandson of the late Lawrence and Alabama Vaughn. 

After graduating from Howard County Training School in 1961. He worked in Chicago for a short period of time, prior to joining the US Army. After the military, he spent his work life years working on cars which was something that he loved and was very passionate about. He was a radiator technician at Master radiator shop located on the Southside of Chicago, Ill.

He retired to Hot Springs, Ark., where he spent many hours with his brother-in-law Robert Williams on the banks of Ouachita Lake fishing. He loved planting a garden and harvesting his vegetables. He enjoyed cooking his favorite foods with his favorite spices and giving helpful hints on how to cook. 

Two sons proceeded him in death: Aberdeen Johnson, Jr., and Robert Earl Johnson.

He leaves to mourn: his daughter, Marquita Roberts (Jihan) and their mother, Mamie Lee Hill – St. Paul, Minn.; Grandchildren: Catrice Williams and Antonio Jones- (Aberdeen Jr.’s children) Sade Johnson, Dylita Johnson, Jamaris Johnson, Robert Johnson Jr. and Lamya Johnson (Robert Johnson Sr.’s children) Shardesia Hill, Dochelle Davis, and Shondale Griffith (Marquita Roberts’ children); Great-grandchildren are Daejah, Mariah, Janae, Demar, De’Cari Jr., Ni’lah, Ri’Cayha, Halo, Dailyn, A’Meena, and Nasir.

Surviving siblings: Rev. Sammie Lee Johnson (Irene) Enterprise, Ala.; Virginia Johnson Scott-Tyler, Texas; Shirley Williams -Hot Springs, Ark.; Rev. Margie M Williams (Robert) -Hot Springs, Ark.; Alfred Junell Johnson (Maria). Paraloma, Ark.; Norman R Johnson, Paraloma, Ark.; Juliann L Johnson-Fort Worth, Texas; Evelyn Hendrix (Junior)- Mineral Springs, Ark.; Phyllis Rogers (Alvernon)-Bryant, Ark.; Annette L. DeJesus (Ismael)-Goodyear, Ariz.; Douglas E Johnson, Tucson, Ariz.. He was preceded in death by brothers and their wives: Wilkie Lawrence Johnson (Fannie) and Bertram Johnson (Yong Cha).

His former wife, Jewel Merie Herrell – Chicago, Ill.; Lorenda, Sabrina, Angie, Melvin; host of nephews, nieces, great nephews, great nieces, great-great nephews and nieces, Special sister-in-law, Maria, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. 

Aberdeen D. Johnson will be remembered by his families for his passion for cars, and his love for gardening, fishing, and cooking. His legacy will live on through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
