Born Sept. 16, 1929, and died Jan. 7, 2025. The son of a sharecropper. The 11th of 12 biological siblings into a family that already consisted of 3 other children from his Papa’s first wife. Two other siblings died in childbirth.

Preceded in death by parents Charlie and Zella Harris; brothers Lee, Bryce, Lex, Wilber, Harold, Ralph, Tillman, Eugene, JW, and sisters Bertha, Lilly, Ruby, Gladys, Marvene. 

And his wife Curtistine Caldwell Harris who spoiled him for almost 60 years.

He is survived by daughters Judy Francis (Wayne) of Ashdown, Sonya Barton (Rick) of Texarkana and son Gary Harris (Lisa) of Springdale.

Six grandchildren, Tanya Jeffcoat (Jeff), Jason Francis, Kimber Still (Josh), Chris Barton (Emily), Brett Harris (Johanna), and Alyssa Harris, 8 great-grandchildren, Keaton, Sutton, Bradyn, Landon, Esteban, Leslie, Kristian, and Landry. And a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who are dear to the family.

He served several organizations including the board of Howard County Memorial Hospital, Arkansas Cattleman’s Association, Howard County Equalization Board, among others. He also served as President of the Saratoga School Board and as President of the local Union for Ideal Cement. He was instrumental in getting the union hall donated to the Saratoga Tri-County Lions Club when the cement plant closed. 

He worked for Ideal Cement Company, later Holnam for 41 years.  

He was an active member of Community Baptist Church, Okay, Ark., for his entire adult life. This church and Okay were very special to his family as this is where his children were raised and lifelong friends made.

He raised cattle his entire life and was committed to expanding the herd, keeping heifers and buying farms into his late 80’s.

He so loved his family and would tell you how blessed he was and oh what a good life he had.

Visitation will be Sunday, Jan. 12, 2025, from 1-2 p.m. at Nashville Funeral Home, with services following at 2 p.m. Charles Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Mineral Springs Cemetery.
